How did your FPC certificate help you get to where you are today?

The FPC Certificate exposed me to a wonderful variety of opportunities to learn more about fundraising and gain practical experience before entering the professional world, through internships, volunteer opportunities, and events. The connections I made were vital, not only as I began my job search, but especially as I thought about what it was I wanted to do. 

What do you enjoy about your current position?

I love the opportunity I have to get to know alumni in a variety of industries, whether that be business, the arts, or medicine, and to help them accomplish their philanthropic goals at the University of Iowa. Alumni and friends of the University have such rich stories to tell, it has really enriched my life, both personally and professionally, to get to know them. 

What career advice do you have for current NLP students?

Embrace every opportunity you can! You never know what experience will lead to something you might become very passionate about.
