How did your FPC certificate help you get to where you are today?

The FPC program was a great foundation to learn about the nonprofit community. With the FPC, I was able to acquire business communications, organizational policy, and fundraising development. Outside the classroom, I served in leadership for the University of Iowa Dance Marathon and positions locally at Mayor’s Youth Empowerment Program and The University of Iowa Foundation (now Center for Advancement) Telefund that fostered my career. After graduating, I accepted jobs at human service and event management agencies that enhanced administrative practices for the role I serve today. Currently, I serve as a Program Coordinator for Ronald McDonald House Charities in the Chicagoland area overseeing program operations, family services with local children’s hospitals, and charitable event development.

What career advice do you have for current NLP students?

Have an innovative mindset and become knowledgeable with community services around you. This will help you engage and diversify in healthy relationships with the nonprofit community.
