Mackenzie Fenwick '26 served as the Corporate and Community Development Intern in the University of Iowa Center for Advancement’s (UICA) 2025 Summer Internship Cohort. She is pursuing a BA in Journalism & Mass Communication (Strategic Communication Track), with a minor in Psychology and the NLP Certificate.
Mackenzie was one of just 8 students selected from more than 100 applicants to serve as the Corporate and Community Development Intern at the UICA during summer 2025.
The highly competitive UICA Summer Internship Program provides 10 weeks of hands-on experience across key areas such as fundraising, stewardship, and data analytics. In addition to contributing directly to organizational teams, interns participate in weekly educational sessions and conclude the program by presenting their work at a final symposium.
Mackenzie’s success highlights the impact of the Nonprofit Leadership and Philanthropy (NLP) Certificate’s strong partnership with UICA. Thanks to this collaboration, students regularly connect with advancement professionals through classroom visits, panel discussions, and networking events. For many, including Mackenzie, these experiences open the door to internships and full-time opportunities in the nonprofit sector.
