BY THE NUMBERS
Perseverance: the attribute consistently displayed by students enrolled in the Nonprofit Leadership and Philanthropy certificate this past year during the pandemic. They attended class virtually, interacted with community partners in new and innovative ways, participated in virtual events, and created and joined a newly formed philanthropy-focused student organization.
Enrollment

Coursework
The coursework that makes up the Nonprofit Leadership and Philanthropy Certificate is rated significant and effective by students, faculty, and nonprofit professionals. The courses are open to all UI students regardless of their enrollment in the certificate. In FY21, 539 University of Iowa undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in NLP classes held on campus and online.
- Nonprofit Organizational Effectiveness I: 311 students
- Nonprofit Organizational Effectiveness II: 92 students
- Fundraising Fundamentals: 60 students
- Nonprofit Ethics and Governance: 38 students
- Nonprofit Communications: 38 students
- Nonprofit Field Experience: 16 students
Maximum of 4 students taking a substitution course due to lack of course availability — 5 students required approval of substitution course for Nonprofit Ethics & Governance

26 certificate students completed internships in FY21
