How did your FPC certificate help you get to where you are today?

My Fundraising and Philanthropy Communications Certificate helped me get a better understanding of what non-profits are and why they are so important. I worked at the University of Iowa Center for Advancement as a student employee but not until I started this certificate program did I truly grasp how important the work that everyone was doing is and how much it benefits the University of Iowa. The certificate program also exposed us to many local non-profits and community members that we got to learn from and assist in their work, giving us real life experiences.

What do you enjoy about your current position?

In my current position I get to support a wide range of University of Iowa programs. It is awesome to help all of these areas achieve their goals and help them be the best programs they can be.

What career advice do you have for current NLP students? “Some advice I would give to NLP students would be to take advantage of any opportunity you are given and try things outside of your comfort zone. You never know where an opportunity may take you and you may find new passions along the way!”
